Accenture (NYSE: ACN) is pleased to announce that it has joined the Australian Missile Corporation (AMC), a consortium of Australian Defence industry partners, academia and government organisations to support establishing a sovereign guided missile manufacturing enterprise in Australia.
The AMC was founded by NIOA – the largest Australian owned supplier of weapons and munitions to the ADF. Accenture is a key partner of the Australian Department of Defence delivering strategic projects in IT, supply chain and logistics.
Accenture joins a growing list of Australian businesses that have registered with the AMC and looks forward to collaborating with Australian Industry to deliver on the Australian Government’s vision for a sovereign guided weapons program.
Robert Nioa, CEO of NIOA and the Australian Missile Corporation, welcomed the support of Accenture: “We are delighted to welcome Accenture Australia to the team. They are a trusted sovereign prime systems integrator with a reputation for delivering complex programs to the Commonwealth.”
Andrew Abbey, Accenture Strategy & Consulting – Senior Manager and former Royal Australian Airforce – Air Combat Officer said: “During numerous deployments to the Middle East, I relied upon the precision impact of guided munitions to deliver strategic effects. Advanced technology weapon systems not only increase effectiveness, but they also keep those that are not being targeted out of harm’s way. It’s great to see Accenture partnering with the AMC and Australian industry to create a sovereign capability that will be able to provide the high-tech munitions needed to meet Australia’s unique requirements in our many areas of interest.”
